Assistant State's Attorney I

This is a full-time assistant state’s attorney position in the Traffic Division of the State’s Attorney’s Office.  This is a Grade 10 position in the McLean County job classification system with a salary range of $48,544 to $58,007.  Actual starting salary will be based on experience. 

The position requires a license to practice law in the State of Illinois and before the Illinois Supreme Court.  While this is an entry level position, legal experience is desirable.  Also desired are strong time management, administrative and organizational skills combined with the ability to deal successfully with a wide variety of personalities. 

Under general supervision, this position oversees, supervises and coordinates court room responsibilities and support staff in the Traffic/DUI Division, as well as performs a variety of highly responsible professional legal work, applying professional legal principles and practices to a variety of complex assignments.  Work is performed with considerable professional independence, discretion, mature judgment and latitude in carrying out assigned responsibilities.  Work involves the use of vehicle traffic codes, video recording equipment, and other assigned tasks to accomplish the work of the division.  Work is reviewed by the First Assistant State’s Attorney or the State’s Attorney.
