Message from the President
The holidays are here! The PCBA family enjoyed its annual "roasting" of who's who in the local legal community. Shown here are some of the dedicated volunteer performers. A great time was had by all.
The holidays also reflect the devoted commitment of the YLC to the community. Project Santa brings cheer to many children in Peoria that Santa may not have reached but for our YLC. I wish all our PCBA family and their families Happy Holidays and peace to all.
New Members Luncheon and Reception
On November 8 five of the PCBA’s newest members attended the bi-annual lunch with members of the bench and bar. Shown here, front row: Joey Pishghadamian, Lucas Young, Beverly Jones and Stephanie Wisner; back row: Mitch Gilfillan, Judge Wilson, President Maher, Mary Kanowski, Aliesha Graves, David Wiest and Judge Shadid.
On November 17 five of the newest members attended the bi-annual reception at Kenny’s Westside Pub. Shown here are Beverly Jones, Lucas Young, Blake Esker, President Maher, Mary Kanowski, Jacob Paul Gilfillan and Aliesha Graves. About fifty members attended and enjoyed the reception at this new venue. Thanks go to Sean Kenny for acknowledging our new members by providing splendid artwork as shown above.

Prairie State Legal Servicesby Kate Whetstone We would like to thank the following attorneys, paralegals, and other support staff who have assisted low income persons and recently closed pro bono cases: Spencer Daniels, William Holman, James Kane, Carol Perkins and Anupama Uddavolu. Free Legal Advice Clinic Prairie State Legal Services will be holding a Free Legal Advice Clinic February 11, 2017 from 9-12. This clinic will be held at the Prairie State Legal Services office at 331 Fulton Street in downtown Peoria. I am looking for volunteer attorneys and paralegals who would be willing to help out with this event. This clinic is designed to help clients who have already gone through the PSLS application process by giving them one time legal advice on civil legal matters. Attorneys will not be asked to provide extended representation to anyone they advise during this clinic. Volunteers will also be covered under Prairie State’s malpractice insurance. You will only be matched with clients who have legal problems that you are comfortable advising on. This is a great opportunity to get involved in Pro Bono if you only have limited time to give. If you are interested in getting involved in this event or have any questions please call me at (309)621-4005. End of the Year Giving Keep an eye out in the mail for end of the year donation information for Prairie State Legal Services this holiday season. If you did not receive your donation information and would like to contribute you can visit https://goo.gl/Yc8XAf. Thank you for your generosity and support of the work that we do! Happy Holidays!!
