Lucas, retired judges from the 10th Circuit, were recognized, and this year's Distinguished Community Service Award recipient was announced: Honorable John A. Gorman. Magistrate Judge Gorman (at right) was nominated for the award by past recipient and PCBA past president, David Mueller. Mr. Mueller provided a long list of the Judge's community involvement, and wrote, "He is a gentleman in every sense of the word and a jurist whose judicial temperament and legal acument are well recognized."

On Monday, January 21, 2013, Arthur G. Greenberg passed away. He was born on July 31, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois and the University of Michigan Law School in Ann Arbor. He was a United States Navy veteran, serving his nation during the Koren War. Arthur was a noted attorney in the Peoria area for many years, engaging in the practice of law from 1957 to1978, 1982 to 1997, 1999 and 2000. He was also resident circuit judge, Peoria County, Tenth Judicial Circuit of Illinois, appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court (1997-1998); commissioner on the Inquiry Board, Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (ARDC) 1997; an assistant state's attorney, Peoria County, 1960 and 1962; and had been appointed special prosecutor and receiver in special cases. He was licensed to practice law in all local federal courts, state of Illinois, state of Michigan, and before the United States Supreme Court. Arthur was president of the Peoria County Bar Association (1992-1993). A memorial service will be February 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the Universalist Unitarian Church at 3000 W. Richwoods Blvd., Peoria, IL 61604. The PCBA has made a $100.00 contribution to the PCBA Foundation in memory of Arthur G. Greenberg.
Chief Circuit Judge Michael E. Brandt is pleased to announce that Timothy J. Cusack has been elected by the Circuit Judges of the Tenth Judicial Circuit as an Associate Circuit Judge. Judge Cusack was selected from an outstanding field of candidates and was sworn in on January 25, 2013. He is a native of Peoria, Illinois, a graduate of Bergan High School, received his undergraduate degree in 1984 from Marquette University and his Juris Doctorate in 1989 from Northern Illinois University. He began his legal career with the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office in 1989; in 1991 he entered the civil practice arena by accepting employment at Cusack & Fleming. He was given the opportunity to work part-time for the Tazewell County Public Defender’s Office in 1996-1998 in the Felony Division. Mr. Cusack accepted a position in 1998 for the Peoria Public Defender’s Office, and in 2008 he was appointed to his most recent position of First Assistant Public Defender. He lives in Peoria with his wife Anne and their seven children.
