Land of Lincoln Honor Flight
The PCBA recently received an email from a volunteer with LLHF which is a federal 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, giving us some insight on what they do for the WWII, Korean and soon Vietnam era veterans.  Every April, May, June, September and October approximately 80 veterans on each flight are flown free of charge (guardians pay their own ways) to Washington, D.C. to see their memorals and monuments. At the end of this flying season, the Honor Flight network, consisting of 116 hubs in 40 states will have flown over 100,000 Veterans at absolutely no cost to them, all with donations and sponsorships, without any State or Federal funding.  By October the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight that flies out of Central Illinois will have flown over 1,265 Veterans in just four years that it has been a hub.  What can you do to help?  Help find a veteran, make a donation, arrange a presentation, hold a fundraiser event, become a LLHF member, sign up to volunteer, or sign up as a guardian for one of the flights to Washington, D.C.  To learn more you may visit the LLHF website www.LandOfLincolnHonorFlight.org, email Jim McGinn at jmcginn@mtco.com or John Dust HonorFlightGuy@aol.com.
