PCBA President's Message

As The Doors sang in 1969-THIS IS THE END. Well the end of the 2018-2019 PCBA fiscal year – and the end of my term as your President. I am so honored to have been chosen to lead this renowned and historic organization. Our Bar Association is held in high regard and esteem and considered as a model for what a mid-sized county bar association can do for its members and the legal profession. I have no doubt that our reputation will be maintained by my successors. A number of thank yous, personal and institutional, are in order.

First and foremost, I have to thank the members of the Association for their support for all of the events and activities. Attendance at events was up this year and so was our income. The visits from the 3 Chiefs – Chief Judge Evans, Chief Justice Karmeier, and Dean Amar – to the Diversity Luncheon, Lincoln Memorial Banquet, and Law Day Luncheon were highlights of the year. And let us not forget the Roast of Joe Napoli at the Holiday Party. None of these events would have been successful without the support of our membership.

I also want to thank the Board of Directors and all of the volunteers who spent countless hours at meetings, events, and activities such as the CLE programs, golf outing, and Strides for Justice. Our Association offers a wide range of professional and community-oriented activities that would not exist without the hard work of these volunteers.

Finally, but most importantly, I want to thank Linda and Stephanie for all of the time and energy they have put into making the PCBA the organization that it is today. Without our hard-working staff it would be very difficult to keep this Association going. Thank you.

I want to wish my successor, Mike Gifford, and his Board good luck for the coming fiscal years. The Association is in good hands as it moves forward towards 2020 in our ever-changing professional environment. Please attend the Annual Meeting/New Members’ Reception on July 8 for the changing of the guard. Peoria County Bar Association – the Original Social Media
